The Eden Brewery, Guardbridge

Our next meeting will be held on Wednesday 26 September 2012 at 6 pm at The Eden Brewery, Guardbridge.

As usual any guest who may be thinking of joining the Club will be welcome.

Our guest speaker will be Paul Miller of The Eden Brewery.

The Eden Brewery is a new micro-brewery located at the South West end of the old Papermill site at Guardbridge.

It is the first brewery to operate in the St Andrews area in over a hundred years and brewed its first beer on the site on 14th It will employ 8 people initially, 3 full time and 5 part time. The ‘head’ brewer Scott Gowans is a Heriot Watt Brew School graduate who has worked in Fullers & Adnams Breweries in England as well as Fyne Ales in Scotland.

Paul has worked for 30 years in various roles in brand development in the drinks industry (with Diageo, Glenmorangie and Molson Coors) and latterly advised the government on its alcohol policy (without doubt his most frustrating job!).

As well as a core range of craft beers the brewery will offer a specialisation in whisky and rum cask matured beers and will have a very high percentage of locally grown barley (80%) in most recipes.

The brewery will focus on very small batch production, it will sell 50% of it’s beer in cask form to Pubs and Hotels and the balance in bottles. It is aiming to cask and bottle all its production onsite.

There is ample parking adjacent to the brewery onsite. Please meet at 5.45 pm for 6 pm. Enter via south entrance to Papermill on Main Street and follow signs to the left where there will be someone to meet with you and escort you into the brewery.
